Though it has become something of a cliché, women do indeed enjoy the use of good clothes. This is not confined to women however, as both men and women gain huge enjoyment out of good quality, fashionable clothing. However, some of the most famous clothing lines in the world do cater predominantly for women, and a few of them are listed here, in no particular order.
1) Coco Chanel
This clothing line, started by a French designer of the same name, originally intended to make clothes that deviated from what was then the norm for women’s clothing: corsets and hoops and the like. Given the long and illustrious reputation garnered by the company, it is safe to say that they succeeded admirably. Even today, after close to a century of business, Coco Chanel continues to produce innovative and high-end clothing.
2) Yves Saint Laurent
As with many other prestigious clothing lines, Yves Saint Laurent hails from France, one of the fashion epicentres of the world. Founded by eponymous Algerian-born fashion designer, Yves Saint Laurent distinguished itself early on by adapting male designs to be worn by women, a tradition that holds to this day. With their cutting edge designs and high-profile cuts, the avant-garde position of Yves Saint Laurent is as strong as ever.
3) Versace
There is perhaps no other name more associated with glamorous and flamboyant clothing than Versace. Since its inception in the late 20th century, Versace has provided new and stylish cuts to women and men alike (though they do specialise in women’s clothing). Whether with new and innovative styles of dresses or fashionable two-piece women’s suits, Versace upholds its reputation with impunity and distinction.
4) Calvin Klein
Though not geared totally towards women, Calvin Klein has delivered modern and front line fashions since their beginning. Focusing primarily on denim and jeans, the company has ridden an enduring wave of popularity. Their minimalist designs are especially popular amongst the younger generation.
